| This is where it all started... Mapping out our trip at Starbucks a few months ago |
Life after getting back from the road trip has been pretty hectic with work and last classes of school, which are my excuses for not posting about the trip yet. I couldn't be happier that school is finally over, work + evening classes + homework was a lot to manage in addition to other #AuPairLife stuff. I even eventually did a pretty good job, my final grades were B- for philosophy and B+ for journalism. After the huge effort (sarcasm) I put in these classes I'm pretty happy about these grades. Being foreign apparently gave me a huge bonus. Other slowing factor has been going through the 2000+ pictures from the trip, and that's just mine and Anais's photos... We'll have a bunch of material to laugh at on our retirement days, that's for sure.
Elämä reissun jälkeen on ollut niin kiireistä koulun ja töitten kanssa, että ei aikasemmin oo juuri joutanu reissusta päivittämään. Viimeset tunnit oli viime maanantaina, ja yllättäen selvisin kursseista vielä ihan kunnialla. Loppuarvosana filosofiasta oli B- ja journalismista B+ (asteikko A paras-B-C-D-E- F hylätty). Taisin saada aikamoisen bonuksen siitä, et oon ulkomaalainen, bahaha. Myös kaikkien kuvien haaliminen koneelle ja läpikäyminen on vieny oman aikansa, niitä kun on vaatimattomat 2000 ja risat. Jessican ja Ellenin kuvia lukuunottamatta!

Since I have so many awesome pictures and even more awesome stories to tell (and I don't want to cram everything in one post), I decided to write a post per day about the trip. So starting from Las Vegas, welcome on the JEVA-crew West Coast Road Trip 2013!
Kerta mulla on niin paljon kuvia ja juttua kerrottavana (enkä haluu kirjottaa yhtä romaanipitusta päivitystä), ajattelin kirjottaa reissusta postauksen per päivä. Joten tervetuloa JEVA-tiimin matkaan West Coastille!

Day #1: Las Vegas & AVICII
When we took off from Detroit on April 19, it was snowing. It was high time to get out of the freezing mitten! Our plane landed in Vegas at 9pm local time. Las Vegas international airport is located only about 10 min away from the center of the city, so we got a really cool view of all the crazy lights of the city when we flew in. We hopped on a shuttle bus, and drove doooown The Strip (the main street in Vegas) to our hostel. When you're on a budget, you might have to give up some luxuries like central location........ Otherwise our hotel was great, our room had a little balcony with a view to the pool, and the hotel even had a wedding chapel!
Me lähettiin matkaan Detroitista perjantaina 19 huhtikuuta. Lähettiin just oikeeseen aikaan, nimittäin matkalla lentokentälle alko tiputtaa lumihiutaleita. Oltiin perillä Vegasissa 21.00 jälkeen paikallista aikaa. Vegasin lentokenttä on ihan keskustan kupeessa, joten saatiin huikeet maisemat Vegasin valoista laskeutuessa. Kentältä hypättiin pikkubussiin ja ajettiin meidän hotellille The Stripin (Vegasin pääkadun) kauempaan päähän. Budjettimatkailessa joutuu luopumaan tietyistä mukavuuksista, kuten keskeisestä sijainnista... Muuten hotelli oli jeba, meillä oli pikku partsi allasnäkymällä ja hotellissa oli jopa hääkappeli!

That night we just dragged our suitcases in, changed with the speed of light and headed to see AVICII at XS nightclub at Encore. The club was amazing and the concert was a blast, nut high heels added a painful side effect. Luckily we found a nice little pool to soak our aching toes in every now and then. We got into the huuge taxi line after 3am, and got to crash well after 4am.
Ekana iltana vaan raahattiin matkalaukut sisään, vaihettiin vaatteet ja suunnattiin AVICII:n konserttiin XS-nightclubille Encore-hotellille. Klubi oli mahtava ja konsertti oli ihan huippu, mut korkeet korot lisäs pienen kipuelementin iltaan. Onneks löydettiin pikku poreallas missä uittaa varpaita aina kun kävi liian kivuliaaks. Hipsittiin valtavaan taksinjonoon aamukolmen aikoihin, mut hotellille päästiin vasta 4 jälkeen.
